came a long way from the 1 gallon bowl I had my first betta in a few years ago

I would try to clear up at least little bit of open water for swimming purposes but aside from that looks pretty cool.

What are you using for substrate?
 
It's not overcrowded, the betta like to swim through the plants. The plants are soft, no danger to his fins. This is 20 gallon long for 1 betta btw. I am unsure of the age of the betta, I got one of the bigger ones at the pet store so he's at least young adult

I currently have a 20 gallon long myself, also heavily planted with a Dwarf male Honey-Gourami, 7 silver-black Tetra's and 5 Emerald Cory-cats. (trying to resist staring another tank lol)

This time around I went with a topsoil/clay mixture "capped" with 2-3 inch's of mixed-size gravel.... plants are going crazy!
