I don't know the real person behind HAL9000 aka Neckarb. Just stop making useless threads/trolling. There are better things to do than posting 58/day or answering every post in each thread, very annoying.

People here are just taking things too serious and forget there are more important things outside this forum. I don't like how you are conducting yourself ATOTwise. This also applies to some other members here whose daily lives revolve around wasting valuable time here. There's a world out there. I miss the old ATOT a lot, it's just not the same anymore. Just my $0.02. :hmm:

Good advice and on that note, I'm going to sleep.

Night ATOT.

You are the Casey Anthony of Anandtech, 40% are amused or indifferent towards you 60% are waiting in the alley to stab you in the back D:

I'm somewhere between amused and indifferent haven't decided yet, but then I never have been one to go with the crowd

It's a good question, sorry I should have. Tell me 4 interesting things about you. Why did you choose philosophy? I don't find people repulsive, people are amazing, everyone is amazing and interesting in some way if you look, I also adore psychology.

Why didn't you ask? You should be analyzing every post that is relative to you and what you write here, and considering your heartfelt desire to understand and empathize with people I expected more from your reply. That is unless you're insincere.

Psychology is a pseudoscience, but most people do enjoy things that can't be proven valid or invalid.

I chose philosophy because of a crisis during my 20s, and the only solace I found at that time was reading Wittgenstein's Tractatus. I gave up on my history degree and studied philosophy and russian.

Interesting attributes?

A wonderful voice, empathy, handsome, nudist.

i'm just saying if it bothers you so much, why waste your energy and frustration and potentially say something that'll get you banned? obviously, nothing you say will set him off, so what's the point? you're only gonna hurt yourself.

I don't know where you get the opinion I'm bothered, frustrated or anything else. And as far as banning goes I've already been banned and didn't even know it. Getting banned again means little to me.

i'm all for people posting their opinions, but when it gets to the point where your opinions are going to break forum rules, why post them?

Still with this banning thing?

ultimately, you can do what you want. i'm not telling you what to do. i'm just trying to suggest an alternative to getting worked up and potentially banned over some kid's opinions from all the way across the atlantic. seems pretty silly.

This. I don't believe for a second that the person posting as HAL9000 is actually represented in any way by or holds the views in the posts made with the account. But oh well. It's more a sign of the quality of the moderation of late, but there have been plenty signs regarding that. I suppose the mildly frustrating part is that you can't really browse the forum without being confronted with his trolling constantly, where as other moderation issues only pop up occasionally; I have a feeling that in time this too shall pass and best to just ignore him as possible.

One of the members of this forum suggested that I create this thread with a poll, insinuated that I wouldn't do it. Well here it is. I'm marginally curious to see how many people do like me or are indifferent.

Please keep the insults to yourself.

a self-callout thread!!!!

I like this new Neckard Troll-clone!

Also the poll should have been public.

It's because:

I post a hell of a lot.
I have controversial views on things like gun ownership or abortion
I have a tendency to ask questions in threads that then cause people to argue with me, thus derailing the thread
I don't get riled up by insults and people find that irritating.
People mistake my views on things as deliberately provocative
I'm bisexual (people seem to find that irritating)
I'm bipolar (people seem to dislike that fact about me, and use it as an insult about me)
People get into trouble when they hurl insults at me, but I don't get into trouble because I don't insult them back most of the time.
I have a poor memory and people find it irritating when I post the same arguments twice or more.
Oh! And people think I enjoy negative attention.
Also, people don't like being disagreed with.

Edit: I'm also new to this forum stuff, so I often don't understand "internet speak" (at least at first) as well as some of the Americanisms that get posted here.

I don't think it is your view on guns per se, rather the hypocrisy and lack of logic behind them, coupled with how you portray them. I can respect someone for being against guns, but the way you justify your opinions on the matter just don't make sense. For example, you own a shotgun, but at the same time state that guns should not be privately owned.

I have read many well thought out opinions of those that want more gun control. While I may disagree, I can respect their opinion.

I don't mind you. You seem to hold opinions that are diametrically opposed to mine on virtually every social issue, but if I just wanted to agree with everyone all the time I'd stick to real life conversations.

I am neutral.

I don't think you have any definite reason to leave and opposition is always required to keep a forum healthily going. People need somewhere to vent and you are the doormat that lets them start it by your opinions. I still don't understand why you take the bait though, but I do recognize why people feel that way.

It's not just one or two people, it's a lot of people. Is it safe to say over 10+ members? Anyway, it's important to recognize that there's something they aren't particularly fond of the attitude you put up, which is probably why you got this going on in the first place.

Maybe tone down on it a little?

Edit: I do know you are bipolar, I've read it you said it somewhere in the past. I've been on another forum where I have seen a few bipolar members, specifically one in worse shape. When she was in manic she'd go on similar posting rounds like you do. They tend to reply to everything, so I get why you do what you do sometimes. That doesn't give you an excuse to keep doing it though.

At first I was neutral.. I saw you get picked on in CPU forum and I expected you to leave the forums for good. Alas.. that is not to be case it seems.

You seem to pick forums to troll for a certain time periods in OT, P&N, L&R and Garage.

Now.. you are getting on my nerves.

Insult! Pre-Retort! Insinuation about your mother! Wharrrgarbl!!!!!!!!

Meh, this place is kinda dull without posters like you. People need to be wrong on the internets, otherwise who would we argue with?

Long live the flying pig, neckbeard sucks

ATOT does not prefer its bacon to fly. We would have to get up of our recliners to catch it, and lets face it, we're out of shape. :( TFP hates kittens, too.

I am neutral. I don't get the hate though. Your responses to him are lulz. Just ignore him if you don't like him. It would be much better on your health.
Now Trident is different, his threads are much more annoying IMO.
