I always thought that I hated them, but I went to see a New Year's fireworks display, and as people in the crowd tried to leave in opposite directions, it got to the point that everyone was basically pushing each other, even borderline violently at moments, and it was the best part of the whole night for me and some of the most fun I've had in ages. Ordinarily I'm hesitant to touch people and when people first started putting their hands on my shoulders and back I didn't really like it, but once there was no choice but to move, and with the dark anonymity, it was exhilarating. I always thought that I would hate the concept of moshing, but now I'm tempted to give it a shot.
