Do you like kids? w/poll

My neighbor had her grandson over for the weekend. She was bored and invited me over since he was on her comp. I offered to lend him my PS2 so he would get off her comp (I'm sick of my games so no big deal). Next thing I know I'm his best friend and have to play games with him. Its not that I don't like kids, I'm just uncomfortable around them.

So do you like kids?

Depends on the kid.

My wife's 10-year old cousin who was here the last few days that ripped open a Cars toy display my wife got from McDonald's and tried to steal my son's Gameboy Advance before he left today.....Yeah, I can do without him.

I just find that kids have too much energy. Also its hard to say no to them because I don't wanna hurt their feelings. So I gotta keep up with them or be a mean guy. I like the mellow kids but I hate the bounce off the wall kids.

EDIT: Her grandson was a bounce off the wall kid.

i HATE crying babies...i dislike tolders...i HATE kids from 1-3/4th grades...5th-9th grades are...meh...young teens have their ups and down...i'm sure if i actually had some then i would say otherwise....teenagers must suck (all my mom talks about is how much she loved her litte boys and how we never act like we used to...durr) but i rather like most of them...although i'm only 20...so i suppose i fall close to that catagory...

I don't mind kids at all. I really enjoy playing with them and they can come up with some of the funniest things ever. But then, I'm 23 and I'm the oldest of nine kids.

That's not to say that kids should be taken everywhere. If your kids don't behave, I'll help you beat them.

babies are fine, teenagers are fine... it's that area between, like, 2 and 12.

I don't hate kids, I just don't understand them. I can't really relate to a 9 year-old, but like, I don't want to be that condescending douche that I hated when I was a kid.

I love some of the stupid comments in this thread already. "... I want to beat the parents..." "...hate crying babies..."
cripes people you do realize you were a kid once too, and you cried, and whined and were a general PIA. Throwing around "hate" is pretty arrogant too.

We have 2 boys who will be 3 and 1. It is impossible to go to a nice place to eat. We only go to loud places like Fridays and such so we don't bother others trying to enjoy a relaxing meal. Most of the time it is curb-side pickup.

FWIW ALL infants whine and cry and unless you come prepared, read the signals, and luckily circumvent the oncoming episode you are gonna annoy some people. I think I am getting close to the point where I want the kids to go-off in a nicer eatery so others can feel my pain. 😉

Exactly!
Thats why I'm uncomfortable around them. I don't like them but I knew too many adults that told me to F off when I was that age to do the same to kids now.

Yes, I am a second grade teacher.

It's not the kids who are the problem. It's the idiot parents. Try watching "Honey, We're Killing the Kids." Too many parents just let their kids eat junk and play video games/watch tv all the time. Turns them into poorly socialized, self-centered, spastic young people.
