Do you leave your UPS on 24/7?

I've been leaving my UPS (APC Back-UPS 1000 RS) on 24/7, but now I'm wondering if I should be turning it off when I shut down my PC for the night. Does turning it off and on place any extra stress on the battery?

24/7 unless I am traveling away from home. Then I turn everything off. Common sense rules.

16/7 Almost any Windows problem is fixed by a reset so why not? Machine is good for 24/7 but OS luvs reset.

He's talking about a UPS, not his PC. UPS doesn't need a reset.

You can leave it one 24/7 but if you turn it off daily then it will extend the life of the battery by just a little bit.

Realistically it probably won't extend the life of the battery at all. One might argue that it would actually decrease the life of the battery because the UPS runs a self test every time it is turned on. Personally I leave mine on 24/7 unless I won't be home for a few days.

24/7

If I'm gone on vacation or whatever, the UPS will shutdown anyway depending on the parameters that I've set it for due to an extended power outage. 😉
