Do you leave your bathroom door open or closed?

So we have some relatives staying over at our house, and they have this terrible habit of closing the door behind them after using the bathroom. This presents a a few problems as:

a) I always have to knock to figure out if there's anyone inside, and there are few times worse to bother someone when they're in the bathroom.
b) It reduces potential airflow inside there when the door is closed, which after showers and #2's aren't beneficial at all. And the bathroom is at the end of the hall so it'd be impossible to tell if it's open or closed anywhere in the house.
c) With my relatives who live far away visiting, we've had other visitors as well who've never been here--and with the door closed there's no way to tell which room is the bathroom.
d) Out of pure respect, when in Rome--leave the door as it was as it was found, rather than what you're habitually used to.

I personally can't think of any good reason to leave it closed really..is there?

well if you've just dropped a monster deuce, it's probably good to leave the fan on and close the door for a bit

I close it when I'm inside. Depending on the air conditions inside the bathroom, I will leave it wide open or open a crack.

We always leave it wide open. There's really no reason to have it closed, as long as you have a window, a fan, or an HRV.

Don't you guys have locks inside the bathroom? You twist the knob/handle - if it swings open, yay, no one is in. If it doesn't, someone is in. I thought not locking bathroom doors while you were in was a movie thing.

I generally leave it slightly ajar after I am done.

When I deposit my offering to the Bathroom God on his holy altar, I can assure you the door needs to be closed afterwards. Otherwise everyone in the house gets it. Sorry, but I just do smelly ones.

I used to leave it open, but then I saw a spider, and ever since I left it closed.

We for the most part keep it closed at all times. The reason being the bathroom is a small confined room and the heat from the vent blows out into the hallway and onto the thermostat. That causes the whole house to drop quite a few degrees in the winter.

I only lock if I'm going to be in there a while.
If it's a short trip then I don't bother locking.

I've always closed and locked the door, even when I lived alone. I'm not sure why.

Closed, only because our kitten gets in there and rips all of the TP off of the roll.
