Do You Leave Tips At The Local Grocery Store?

I stopped shopping at Walmart for my basic groceries because it's too far and one thing that I found interesting is that the local grocery store will get someone to help carry out your groceries. Am I suppose to be leaving a tip for those guys?

If you tip waiters, you should have no problems tipping the people that bag your groceries.

No. I used to do that in high school and we were not allowed to accept tips. If you do and they accept, they might get fired.

No, and I hate that they leave that tray out there. Sometimes it's the cashier doing the bagging... now I have to tip cashiers?

Oh, just read OP. I carry my groceries home, so no. If I had them delivered to my house then I probably would.

Publix has signs specifically stating no tipping because it is their pleasure to help out the customers. But when i worked at a grocery store, people gave tips sometimes for help out to their cars. I'd say tippers vs non-tippers was a pretty even split.

I was a bagger at Kroger's in high school and they had the same policy. I was rarely offered a tip when I helped somebody out to the car but when I was I took it, stupid minimum wage job lol.

Same - I was a cashier at ShopRite. If I ever helped someone out to their car, I'd take the tip if it was offered. We weren't supposed to take them, but the managers didn't care if it happened in the parking lot.

When I worked at Fry's some customers use to tip us for helping them load their TVs and shit into their cars.

I would tip if their was a jar asking for tip. Hell I top at fast food places if their is a tip jar, there is ZERO reason a waiter deserves a tip more than someone working as cashier or a fast food place.

No tip for you. The grocery stores that offer bagging and carry out services charge more for their products to pay for those employees. You have already helped them to get that unneccessary but helpful job.

No.

The employees of my local store are not allowed to accept tips. I would be doing them a disservice if I attempted to do so.
