Do you know your neighbors?

ohtwell

Lifer
I have been wondering recently whether or not people actually know their neighbors. I don't. I didn't when I was in the dorm, and I don't now that I live in an apartment. Does anyone know their neighbors?

: ) Amanda

Well, I'm in a new house. But my next door neighbor is our new partner's sister. So I know at least one of them 🙂

i used to live in more of a city and had no idea who my neighbors were. now that i am in the country or the burbs, i know most of them.

I made it a point to introduce myself when I bought my house. A few of them are pretty close in age to me, so we're pretty good friends. The older folks on the street, not so much.

Kinda in passing, we live in a neighborhood that consists primarily of rental homes so the occupants change frequently.

The only ones I really make note of are the ones whose dog is going to catch a bullet if he doesn't STFU.

no.
maybe they're trying to tell you something. 😉

I know a few of my neighbors in my apartment building.
They are goofy. Last Friday I came home to find one of my neighbors holding a small python in one hand and a bottle of champagne in the other. It was pretty funny...

I'm in a dorm and practically know everyone on my half of the floor....when we move into an apartment next year i wanna introduce myself the first day😀

I know most of the people who live on my street pretty well. Even when I lived in an apartment though I knew most of my neighbors.

I've always made it a point to know my neighbors whether it be where I grew up with my parents, in the dorm, aparment, townhouse, and of course the fraternity house. Except for one instance in the fraternity I have always had good neighboring experiences and that one bad experience resulted in me getting two little shi*s kicked out of my fraternity. When living in an apartment my sophmore year of college two of the neighbors that lived directly across from me ended up being my roommates the following year and to this day I remain good friends with them. In fact, I just went and stayed with one of them (Bart) this past weekend.

perhaps,
i like it that way though. nice and quiet, and i can crank up the stereo without worrying about bothering anyone.
there was a family living next door for a while, but they just up and left one night, i guess.
didnt even notice they were gone.

Two sides of our property are bordered by a large field.

The neighbor on the other side just moved in less than a year ago, but I've talked with him some and his kid a whole lot. His wife is reclusive and rarely comes out of the house. They are nice people, but I've had a few quibbles with them (nothing major enough to gripe to them yet, but it may be coming). They are the "Flanders" type of people that are annoyingly friendly, which I can usually handle, but sometimes it gets old when their kid comes over every time he sees me outside.

The people across the street are older and I don't know them real well, but what relationship we have is good, and for the most part we just leave each other alone.

I've lived in my house 5.5 years.

I know our neighbors to our right, and across the street fairly well.

The neighbors to my left are on my "people to kill" list.

My neighbor:We renovated the house on the other side, and got to pick who we sold it to. The nicest young couple you'd ever want to meet now own it.

One one side at least. The guy helped me design & build the addition on my house, his daughters babysat my kids, we take care of each others animals when ontrips, etc.
On the other side, we talk over the fence occasionally.
Across the street ... threatened to shoot my dogs if they ever went on her property again (were just puppies). This was shouted at us from her front porch while wearing a dingy nightgown in mid-afternoon.
