The weird foot controls for gearing were because Henry Ford didn't think the average person was smart enough to deal with a normal clutch and shifter. Some days I think he was right.

I had never driven a 3 on the tree vehicle before so a friend with an old chevy truck opened the door and told me to drive off. I had no idea how to even get it in gear without him telling me but this is a million times worse.

It's a hell of a lot easier and less maintenance than driving a horse drawn carriage.

And honestly, it's not that much different than some older motorcycles. They have petcocks, no fuel gauge, a manual choke, it wasn't until the early 1970s that they had starter motors and even far more recently that they've had fuel injection. They've always had hand controls for the throttle, clutch and braking system.

Ahh, there was a guy how lived up the street from us when I was a kid that had a Model T.
I remember riding around town in the car with him. Damn, he's still alive and still has the car. I should go talk to him and see if he'd sell it

Fuel injection came about a lot sooner than you think. Diesels as early as the 1920's used fuel injection. The 1st electric fuel injection (EFI) was in the late 50's.

I said motorcycles, Harley Davidson just started putting fuel injection in their Sportsters only a couple years ago, the bike I have got fuel injection in 2003, prior to that they were all carb'd, and I've never even heard of a diesel motorcycle.

Yeah, but isn't that just because HD is way behind the times? Haven't other makers (Honda, Yamaha, etc) been doing FI in bikes for a while now?

Many have both FI and carbed. The Japanese Ninja 250 has FI while the US gets a carb.
