My boss just stares, then goes on later at how shocked he is at the moral decay of our country. During the hubbub over Alyssa Milano's nude photographs a few years ago, he did a Google image search on her name, then was shocked and dismayed at all the nude photographs. I know my boss is a dumbass, but even he is not stupid enough to have thought that the top search results would have been anything less.

god i hate fundies

God I hate ignorant bastards like you.

Do I look at boobies in the movies? Yes, as long as they're good looking boobies. Do I care if other people do? No. Do I care what their reason is for not doing so if that's their choice? No.

1. Shut the fvck up
2. ....
3. Profit

Am I alone on this?

I would only shield my eyes if a real live girl in front of me accidently got naked. Like, say a big wind blew and all of a sudden her clothes flew off and she is embarrassed and trying to cover herself up.

I would probably try to shield my eyes with my hands in this situation. But I would do so somewhat slowly and I would probably try to sneak a peak between my fingers.

It seems to me the act of "shielding" your eyes with your hands is likely done for the benefit of impressing another person, since having eyelids that can close on command accomplishes the same goal--just less obviously.

LOL - that's certainly an interesting point.

So, they aren't doing in necessarily to prevent themselves from seeing something "immoral", but, rather, to make a showy display of their own piety.

Wow, you're an idiot if you think seeing a naked body is immoral.

*sigh* There is nothing immoral about seeing a naked body. They shield their eyes to PREVENT themselves from lusting. That's where the morality comes into it.

I use to hang out with some devout Christians. When we watched rated R movies they would fast forward through the sex scenes. These were some of the nicest and most well adjusted people I have ever met. They have a set of beliefs different from mine, but they lived consistently by it. They drew a clear line of what is acceptable and what is temptation.

Given the porn obsessed crowd of ATOT, I'm not surprise by the response to Kristi2k's remark.

The problem with that is that it's all mind control. Seriously - take a look at what is the first thing cults try to control.

People's sex lives.

If you can control that - if you can get people to work against their most basic built-in biological urges - you are in control of their minds.

Didn't you catch that part of Genesis? After god created Adam and Eve naked, he informed them it was a cardinal sin to see another adult human in the nude and that they would be smote dead on the spot!

Yeah, we're pretty much fscked from birth. My co-worker has a highly immoral baby developing inside of her right now.

EDIT: Damn. Reading the responses in this thread makes me realize how lucky I am to be raised as I was. It's interesting that even fundies realize that sexual feelings are so fundamental that the only way to stop them is to block out the stimulus.

If your girl insists that you cover your eyes during nude scenes in movies then she likely has some security issues. Of course, if you consent to covering your eyes for this ridiculous reason then you have problems of your own.

I didn't get that feeling at all (that it's mind control). These people never forced their beliefs on anyone, but chose to apply it to their own life. People come from all walks of life (and of different religions), if we can somehow go through life without degrading and insulting one another over something as minor as averting one's eyes from nudity we might actually be considered civil creatures.

That's hilarious. People like that exist?

I know girls that don't do that.

Edit: We're socialized to believe that the human body is a dirty, dirty, thing when in fact it isn't. I dunno when Puritan worldviews took over this country but we need to just relax.

The point is that it's THEIR minds under control.

Getting turned on by naked members of the opposite sex (or same sex, whatever) is biological. Sexuality ellicits a biological response, that's how our species - hell, ALL species - survive.

What I'm saying is that their "religion" has control over their minds by getting them to *voluntarily* relinquish control over this most intimate aspect of their lives. I mean, if they are so afraid/reverent/whatever of their god and religion that in the privacy of their own home with their SO they feel the need to shield their eyes....how many steps is it from there to believing their god/religion/whatever that different types of humans are not worth as much as others? Gays, for example, today? Or, during the Crusades, Muslims and Jews?

Once somebody gives up control of their sexuality to an organization....they own them. Period, simple as that.

Does that count?

That doesn't really bother me that much either...it always amuses me when people make such a big deal about it, almost like they're publically reinforcing their heterosexuality.

OR

Maybe I've just watched too much pr0n.
