I have seen people who have hundreds of emails in their mailbox, many of them from years ago which I'm sure they dont even remember what it's about...

I usually delete an e-mail as soon as it's outdated or not needed anymore... so I never have more than 50 emails in my mailbox...

Do you keep your old emails around or do you clean out your mailbox regularly?

I have all emails ever received through my school account (main email account) except those crap spam mails. Been receiving them since May 1999 and keep them all.

You can export them to a file...

Go to 'File' -> 'Import and Export', then follow the directions...

It can be important enough for work related stuff (so you can keep people to their promises), personal mail it totally depends on what though.

Outlook export is dumb - but anyways - i use it and everytime I have to reformat (less now w/ bigger hd) I have a document folder of things that I kept from that revision. there's an application data folder -> microsoft -> outlook that has the 3 main files that carry your email - one is the inbox/sent one, one is the archived, and the last is external emails kept (hotmail). Outlook uses .pst files, I think Outlook express uses something like .ast

I've got mail back to '96 archived on here somewhere. I never need it, but I have it.

I do keep all my email at work, except for some of the cron job stuff and some other ones. it's a CYA thing mainly.

I have emails since 1999 or 1998, then I mean all of them, still using the same email client :)

I have emails dating back about a year....forum subscription updates I delete though. I recently zipped up my outlook express database for backup purposes.

Hey does outlook express have any kind of archiving / backup facility at all? Is there some kind of plugin or software available?
