for those of you who remove malware for customers, do you keep those tools installed or uninstall them after cleaning their computer?

Schadenfroh, on your malware removal guide it says to install spysweeper which is a 30 day trial program. wouldn't you uninstall spysweeper then?

if all malware removal programs (spysweeper, ad-aware, etc) fail to fix the computer, should i then use highjackthis as my last resort?

Yes, but i doubt they use them despite what i tell them.

Then you can make liars out of them when you inevitably go back.

You - "Did you run Adaware and update it like I told you?"

Customer - "Yes, every day."

You - "Mhmm...."Opens Adaware, adaware reports:

"Adaware has not been updated in 137 days. Update now?"

"Been using it every day, have you?"

I'd like them all to know too - "you've been sold on a lie. Computers are not as easy to use as the industry would have you believe."

For trialware, i would uninstall it unless they wished to purchase it, which would not be a bad idea with spysweeper. I uninstall Adaware after scanning on non home computers, for that program is only to be kept by home users, the free version that is.

I use Hijackthis in addition to all those other tools everytime I clean a computer, somethings are rather subtle...... but it is rather easy to cause a mess with HJT, that is why i have it as a last resort in the security guide.
