i keep greeting my co-workers during the day every time i see them... at least for the people i'm familiar with. sometimes i nod or smile or say hi. do you? feels sort of pointless.

I recently watched the movie "We Were Soldiers" again and there's a random scene where someone walks by Sam Elliot's character and says "Good Morning" his reply was a classic, "How the hell do you know what kind of god!"mn morning it is?" Hehe thought it was pretty funny and appropriate to the conversation. I've felt like doing that myself before but always restrained it to a courteous nod.

Even though it is an odd thing to do every time you see someone you know, I think it's the gesture that counts.

Sam Elliot kicked ass in that movie.

We usually just nod in my office.

No and coworkers that do so bother the fvck out of me. Probably moreso than ALL other pet peeves I have, combined. *Particularly* on the third time within 15 minutes, FIRST THING IN THE MORNING.

If it's the first time I've seen the person that day, I'll usually start some small talk. Any sequential meeting after that usually entails just a "Hi, <first name>" or a hand gesture.

Haha! One of those little things you don't normally think about, even though you go through it everyday. I guess I say hi the first time, chat a bit if it's been a while. Otherwise, just hi and/or nod of the head or raising of the eyebrows. I gotta think of more stuff like this...:)

Say hello the first time you see them for the day. After that, a perfectly timed loogie into their mouth as they open it to say hello will suffice.
