It's not just a part, but I still have my 486. It was my first computer.

* Looks at old motherboards and videocards in corner *
* Looks at pile of cables and various parts in closet *
* Looks at partial computers in other corner *

Uh....no! :D

My family doesn't have our *oldest* computer anymore (that would be an Apple-IIe), but I do still have my first computer - an old 400MHz K6-2 machine.

I still have my Atari 800, 130XE, and Mega ST4.

But I've upgraded my PC stuff so many times -- I don't have any sentimental value for my old 33 Mhz 486SX (I don't have it any more)

I wanted to make a keychain out of my 386 processor, but it didn't work out too well, with the pins and all.

I still have my old A7V266E motherboard, but only because I might build a PC out of it to give to someone. I do not save computer hardware for sentimental reasons.

If I dont sell it, I keep it around till the wife says "what good is this?"

If I'm upgrading I try to sell my old parts to defer part of the cost of the upgrade. If I'm building a new rig, sometimes I keep the old parts and use them in various capcities as servers or for projects etc.

I have a lot of old parts, they're just there because I haven't had the time to get rid of it.

No - I have a 6 month rule to prevent clutter. If I don't use something in 6 months it gets trashed/sold/donated or otherwise disposed of. My wife is exempt of course:(

I kept both my 486 and 386 until about 2 years ago. I was digging through my stuff and saw them, booted them up, looked at my old BBS and old memories... but then decided that i probably wouldn't look at them again, so tossed everything out. Now i wished i at least kept the HDDs.

I keep ancient old CPUs that are either worthless or are in questionable condition. Still have a bunch of 286 through 486's, a bunch of Socket 7 processors (including AMD and Cyrix and some IDT WinChip), a few Socket 4 Pentium 60's, and a pair of Pentium Pro 200's in a box in the closet. Most of these were from systems I got for free from people (mostly friends, family, and family friends) throwing out their old systems.

not always, but i wish now that i did. one of my first computers was a compaq 386 with 4mb of ram. that ram was about the size of a floppy drive, and connected to the mobo with two connectors that looked like floppy connectors.

but the only thing that i have really kept is an old apple classic. for some reason, im like the little thing

I have a good amount of old hardware for testing purposes but the only thing I've kept for sentimental reasons is my first CD burner. Mitsumi 4802-TE, $160 back in March of 99. Still works too.
