wondering if you guys keep loans/expenses with friends etc on the back of your minds, intentional or not. not big stuff...more like lending a couple bucks today, buying them mcdonalds , ordering a pizza, etc

in other words, is it a priority for you that these expenses MUST even out?

i cant help but do this. im asian enough said

How old are you? No offense or anything. It's just that when I was younger I used to care about it but not anymore. Just think about it this way you might pay this time but then they can just pay the next time. Just as long as I don't end up as the one paying all the time I don't really care.

Nothing under $5 or that I offer to pay for, for obvious reasons.

If they're an actual friend, they're going to make it right of their own motivation. If they don't, they're not your friend because they don't respect your generosity.

I don't keep track of it because it'll wash at some point.

That said, what most people call "friends" these days are nothing of the sort.

Who says he isn't?

Asian = ethnicity
Jewish = religious persuasion

I think you're confusing Jewish with Hebrew.

Why don't we ask him if he is. I'll put my money on it being a "no".

Not for petty cash($1-10) since usually when I have to borrow a few bucks for whatever reason, they really don't let me repay them when I try. And in turn, when they borrow a few for whatever reason, I do the same. It might be an Asian thing. I dunno. :eek:

I don't really pay attention to small stuff but I do pay attention to if they never are willing to help if I need it.

Nope. We pretty much split checks when we go out. Sometimes a friend will pick up the tab, other times I will. I don't keep track though.

When we were younger, we did this just to make our friends pay for something we didnt want to.

My friends make money like I do. They support themselves. And if I decide to pick up the tab I don't expect the favor to be returned.

This question is very different for people who are 21 versus those of us whoe are 41.

That being said...

We use to either settle up right away or just pay for our own stuff.

Now, I do not even sweat it. It will all even out in the end and, even if it does not, it is not a big deal for me.

We do keep a tally with my wife's sister and mom because we are all constantly buying things for each other and our kids. It can come out to thousands of dollars at the end of the year. Luckily, I do not have to be involved in that at all.

No not really. Maybe I would if it was a lot of money, but not for smaller amounts. Although I always try to pay back anything I borrowed, regardless of the amount.
