I don't judge people based on their major.

I do judge people on why they picked their major... like an education major who only wanted 3 months off/year or a business major whose dad told him to do it.

I wouldn't either if I didn't go out and meet them all the time at social dances.

And you look down at these women b/c they're not engineering majors and wonder why none of them want anything to do with you after talking to you?

Usually I do. People who major in things that are a type of engineering tend to strike me as, "I'm not planning on networking, picking up valuable life and social skills, honing my analytical and critical thinking and otherwise making sure that I have no upward mobility after college." And sometimes as, "I'm a student who gets a dead-end degree while racking up lots of debt." (Private school+no advancement major)

I ask what they plan to do with that major in ten years and they generally respond with "I'll be doing the same thing for the rest of my life."

But what's wrong with that if it makes them happy? Not everyone needs to be a ladder climber.

What about the ones that are engineering majors or are going for something that is actually useful?

Btw, I put CS under the umbrella of engineering majors.

Nothing wrong with that if you love it. I don't want to do anything different for a career. I love my job and honestly, the only advancement would be CIO and I see what horrible crap my CIO has to put up with.

Those women know you're a douchebag with no balls beyond this thread. You've proven it enough times.

And useful? Sorry to burst your bubble, but many other majors are useful too, you're just too much of a loser to know it. Based on your intelligence displayed in these forums, you're not going to be a very good engineer.

Useful = as well paying + lots-of-jobs. I'm skeptical because of all the stats I see.

And not everyone is made out to be an engineer. Thankfully, not everyone thinks like you and we have people that are able to communicate, work with others, make friends and get laid.

Like I already said, you're going to be a shitty engineer, if you're even able to graduate. You have no people skills and no one likes you. Even if you do graduate, you'll be stuck in a dead-end job while people with English majors end-up being your CEO.

I have more respect for people that do something that they enjoy/love then people like you that thinks only about money. I'd rather be around people that are social workers, physical therapists, nurses, etc. then some engineer.

Engineering and the sciences are all about being analytical and thinking critically. All that other stuff is independent of chosen major.

First impressions formed by meeting a girl and learning her major...

Business - gonna have to buy some shots to get laid tonight
Nursing - I'm gonna get laid tonight!
Engineering - I figured that from your social awkwardness and hideous appearance
Philosophy - I am going to have to score some LSD to get laid tonight

feel free to add to this...

hahaha, I agree.

And I'm a fourth-year electrical engineering major. I see this stupid ass attitude that TridenT has all the time in my school, pisses me off to no end. "People aren't doing and don't like what I'm doing?? They must be useless!" No, you are useless and a failure if you have an attitude like that.

You might want to get your meter checked.

Though, I will say that in my experience everything I said was generally true. Engineers have better entry-level prospects than other degree areas, but they also tend to max out much quicker. Engineering programs (180 quarter credits or 120 semester credits) do tend to be somewhat glorified trade schools. There's little flexibility in engineering curricula for educational breadth and social interaction. Many of the highest-paying jobs, those which the OP would consider "better", are closed off to engineers due to lack of social skill and breadth. Many engineering programs foster intellectual stagnation through lack of creative application; students are so often being taught the "classroom basics" that they don't pick up any critical thinking or practical skills.

In other words, even the OP's "perfect" engineering curriculum has major drawbacks that ensure it is no better than pretty much any other degree out there.

Oh, and CS by itself (if that's what OP is studying) is not engineering; only CE or CSE would be.

I never went to college. But I have hired and fired quite a few people who have and made more money than all of them. *shrug*

There are only Chinese and Indians in engineering. Plus, my sister was a B+ student in civil engineering and didn't even get hired yet.

Yeah. Business majors are the default option for people who have no idea what to do with their lives. IMO they are the type that were never bright enough to do well academically and are just along for the ride - hoping to come out on the other side with a degree so they don't waste 4 years.

Seems like a generic degree.
