But that's pretty much a universal complaint about smartphones.
You have to charge them every day, and even the heftiest battery will drain in 4-5 hours if you're using it heavily. (Like, to watch movies or play video games or something.)
Compared to my old charge-every-thursday dumbphone, it's a freaking travesty.
Well on an Android phone, assuming you can root and run your own software, I can get significantly improved battery life by limiting the clock speeds, disabling various background services, and using auto brightness w/LUX (most phones don't function this well in this regard). On my Amaze 4G, the battery is in pretty bad shape so I've limited the clock speeds to about 432mhz which is only just above the 384mhz idle speed. I choose 432mhz because it uses the same amount of voltage as 384mhz. The only time the clock speeds exceed that is when making a phone call, then it gets bumped up to 756mhz. If I had a new battery in the phone, I'd stick with the limit of 972mhz as it's plenty fast at that speed. The phone's stock max speed is 1.5ghz. I found a datasheet of the Qualcomm Scorpion CPU's specs and put the phone's CPU speeds and voltages into an excel file and computed it, figuring out when there are diminishing returns in performance vs voltage and found that 972mhz is the sweet spot.
As for why I have not purchased a new battery despite being stupid cheap, I keep telling myself that I'm going to upgrade this phone but I can't find a suitable replacement. I want a phone with similar specs to this phone but with a larger battery and wireless charging. It MUST come with removable battery and SD card slot. I also like the FM radio but not a requirement as it's difficult enough getting a phone with removable battery and SD card slot.
Also is there a way on the Galaxy S4/S5 phones to not so easily press the power button when in one's pocket?
