Maybe, but electronic locks can do cool stuff, especially if you pair them up with a home automation system. Unique codes for everyone so you know who is coming in and out of the house. That means you can give the maid, dogwalker, and contractor a code too.

It's okay, I have a security team of ex-Mossad agents that has the maid watched 24/7 and a Predator drone that covers the dog walker.

Nope. Hadn't really considered it. If I wanted to I've got plenty of places around the yard I could stick one.

Nope. I got a keypad code on the door that I use. If I didnt have the keypad I would definitely have a hidden key.

I've thought of doing it, but two people I trust have a key so if I'm really stuck I call (embarrassed) one of them. :p So far it has not happened. I have a lock that requires a key to lock it, so it's pretty hard to lock myself out.

Not where I am now, that I know of.
Where I used to live, we'd keep a key on the porch. But sometimes when others used it, they'd leave it out in plain sight.

You'd think after an incident 10-15 years before where one of my dads dope fiends found our fake rock key stash. Got in, stole some of his stash, then pissed on the rest of his plants, would be enough of a lesson to hide the key in a better spot.

I once hided my spare keys under the front door carpet when i was out for a while which was told very dangerous by my friend. Luckily, my house has not been stolen.

no and I think it's really stupid if it's anywhere near the door.

I don't live alone though so I don't have a need to, I can just call someone. The same applies if you have relatives nearby who can keep a copy, just call them.

If I was really alone, I'd guess I'd use it only for real emergencies like if I lose my key (and not tell people or have people habitually use it or other bs that gets detected by gypsies scoping out the place), and I'd bury it in the garden or hide it behind a rock in a wall (if there are dry stone walls).

House is never locked

there is always at least one door unlocked. If someone wants to come in they can...but I wouldn't advise it if you aren't invited.

Um, resurrecting a six month old thread to harp your business? Not a smart idea on this forum.

Umm, quoting the post that I need to remove, so I have to do twice as much work? Not a lot of thought went into that idea either! :) -DrPizza
