Do you have your dog registered/licensed?

Is it a law in all states to register any dog you own? How about cats?

And is your dog registered? How much does it cost to register it and how often do you have to renew the registration and pay another fee?

Thanks.

I never registerd my dog. It kind of brings out the angry rebel in me everytime I think about the government telling me I have to pay them in order to have a dog. i dunno, maybe someone will post a good reason why I should have done it, but he is 15-now, and I just don't see myself doing it.

I have 2 dogs 1 altered /$25per year 1 intact /$35per year and 2 cats both altered, they are $12 per cat per year.

All are microchiped and well cared for, Love them too much not to take care of them, also the money from the registering goes to the humane society.

it's $10/yr for us and we only do it so we can take him to the city dog park

All 3 of my dogs are registered with the city. Annually, $5 each for being spayed/neutered. I believe it's $15 each if not.

We have a large off-leash park area around a reservoir. Supposedly, only city registered dogs are allowed off-leash and park rangers check.

You betcha...both cats are neutered, and both dogs are neutered and licensed. ALL are microchipped.

Here, it's $10 to license a neutered dog, but $150 for an unaltered dog...and if you get caught with an unlicensed dog, you have to pay the licensing fee PLUS a $150 fine.

Animal control officers have been known to drive through neighborhoods listening/looking for houses that have dogs, then cross-referencing the licensing database to verify whether the dog is licensed...

I have no issue with dog licensing, never have.

No. Then again I've never seen an animal control officer or their vehicle ever since I moved here (Irvine, Ca).

I live 5 miles from town and 1.3 miles from the nearest public road. None of the dogs up here are licensed

No, it's too annoying to do every year. i did it for the first few years, but not anymore. i know i should, but they just make it so hard. anyway, i live in the middle of nowhere so nobody really cares. my dogs have never escaped in the 15 years i've owned them. always neutered, always have rabies vaccinations up to date.

you might want to check what fine is charged for having an unregistered dog in your area;)
most certainly more than registration fee

My dog is registered with AKC and licensed in Georgia. I forget all the details of the process. The wife is kind enough to handle such details :)
