You only need a penis and two testicles to be a man.

You don't HAVE to actually WATCH sports to be a man, but if you don't even understand why someone would root for a team, then you're definitely NOT a man. If so many "guys" weren't taking female avatars, I would be able to identify you right away. As it stands: you're either a woman or you're a man that wishes he was a woman.Originally posted by: Triumph
I can enjoy a game of sport, watching the competition and the display of talent. But this idea of rooting for "your" team is completely foreign to me. You do absolutely nothing to benefit the team, you own no part of the team, absolutely nothing you do affects the outcome of the game, and you hate the players if they leave your city. So basically you are rooting for a color. I can watch any two teams play football and enjoy the game, but I don't care which teams they are. People get all full of pride when "their" team wins, which makes absolutely no sense.
Back on topic, it's the competitive part of sports that drives men to watch it. It's a typically "male" thing to like watching sports because testosterone breeds competitiveness, period. If you have enough testosterone, you would either HAVE to watch sports or play sports to satiate that need.
So you don't have to watch sports to be a man, but you had best be getting your competitive fix somewhere, or you are indeed a woman.
Actually, I was more just venting about the whole "I'm a man but I have a female avatar" thing. And by the way, someone with the female cop avatar told me that he just thought female cops were hot. What's your excuse?Originally posted by: Triumph
You have your perceptions about me, and my perception about you is that I somehow insulted your "manliness" and you feel the need to defend it through insults because of your own feelings of inadequacy. "definitely NOT a man", give me a break.
You're thinking of Boston Red Sox fans, and nobody likes them (except other Boston Red Sox fans). The fan that is so obsessed with their team that they define THEMSELVES by the success or failure of that team are sick. Most fans just want someone to root for. It just gives you a side. I'm a Cardinals and Rams fan because I'm from St. Louis. They represent my city. If they beat the Patriots and I see a Patriots fan, I laugh at them, and vice versa. It's not anything serious and I don't act like I was on the field or that I, personally, am better than them, but it makes it more fun. For instance, when the Rams play the 49ers, I call my friend that's a 49er fan and make fun of him. It's fun. That's what we do.I understand being competitive, when I compete. Watching other people be competitive? What does that have to do with my masculinity? Since when do I define myself by what other people do? That's what alot of sports fans seem to do, define themselves by their team, which doesn't require you actually doing anything on your part except buying a colored article of clothing. Somehow that makes you a part of the team?

I do take tap dance classes.
You can call me whatever you want. Because I am a man, I don't care if I measure up to someone else's criteria.

One of my co-workers is an avid sports fan. On the other hand I don?t enjoy watching sporting events. He believes that you have to watch sports to be man. I?ve played many sports over the years and I just don?t enjoy watching them on TV but I do go to a baseball or basketball game and I enjoy watching the live events. I?ve explained this to him and he still thinks I?m weird because I don?t watch sports on TV.
