Do You Have To Install ATi Control Panel To Be Able To Adjust The 9800 Pro?

I have not used an ATi card in a long time, and the last time I did, the control panel would sit in the systray (which I don't like) I prefer the way Nvidia does it where you just right click on desktop and go into advanced.

Thanks 🙂

Yes and go to advanced display properties click options and uncheck Enable ATI taskbar application. Don't know what program to use. Used reforce before but using an lcd at
60Hz now.

You can set the refresh rate for both OpenGL and D3D in the 3.6s Control panel for gaming,no need for third party software for that.

Zardon: What about the promised OpenGL refresh rate fix, is this working correctly now?

Terry: This actually has been fixed a while ago. (As of CATALYST 3.1 I believe). For some context, there is a situation in Windows XP where full screen 3D applications and games would always run only on 60Hz.

To override this users need to do the following
1 .Click anywhere on your desktop
2. Properties
3. Settings Tab
4. Advanced Button
5. Displays Tab
6. Monitor button
7. There is a drop down box called ?DirectX Override Refresh Rate?
I recommend the setting ?same as desktop?, but users can put whatever refresh rate they want to fix.

I realize though the text might be misleading so I have entered a change request to amend the name of the drop down box to ?Refresh Rate Override?, as this applies to both OpenGL and DirectX.

From my other post in a different thread 😉.
