I have a abit kt7 raid. And I'm trying to install a maxtor 30 gig 7200 rpm ata 100 hard drive on it...but I'm having troubles...the setup program just wont run properly. I installed the hard drive in ide 3...where the raid is capable. But to create raid it says I need atleast 2 hard drives? How can I get my hard drive to get ata 100 with out getting another one? How do I get my hard drive going ?

Go to this web site Paul's Unofficial ABIT KT7 & KT7-RAID FAQ click on disks. He has some good info on there. I believe you have to have the Highpoint driver loaded on your hd before you can use it on ide 3 or 4. You will need at least 2 drives to use RAID 0, 1, or 0+1, but you can use 1 drive on the controller if you just want ATA100.

isn't there a setting where you can tell the controller NOT to use any raid function? I don't have the board so i can't say for sure.

Is your problem that your HD doesn't work at all or it won't work at ATA100? I was having troubles getting the kt7-raid to detect my HD at all using the normal IDE connectors. So I connected it to the RAID connector and it works fine. I'm just using a single drive (Quantum fireball LM30), not sure if its running at 66 or 100 though.
