Do you have to do anything to unsubscribe at the end of a free magazine subscription term?

I just did that free motor trend mag subscription but do you have to unsubscribe at the end of 6 months or whatever it is, or do they just stop sending the issues?

They will send a bill for renewal, don't pay it, the mags will stop.

They send renewal bill. You don't pay, yet they keep sending you more. Then they will send you a fake collection notice. Ignore that too.

Some of those free ones are written so you automatically become subscribed if you do not cancel.

I get fake bills from the free subs. Annoying, but I just toss 'em.

Sometimes it's less annoying to pay the renewal than trash the nearly daily crap they send. Pretty sure they do that on purpose.

Unless you gave them your credit card info, you just ignore all their "bills" for renewal.

The other thing you can do, especially if their bill has a free reply envelope, is take your Sharpie marker (you know you have one somewhere, right?), and in big, bold letters, write CANCEL on their bill. Drop it in the envelope and send it off to them.

By law (I'm pretty sure), once they've done that, they can't bother you any more. It's always worked for me. If they send you issue after that, they're free. If that doesn't work, try calling the subscription customer service number (inside the magazine) and cancel that way. Don't be afraid to tell them that you already cancelled, and that any further issues coming from them are gratis, no charge.

The worst ones are the ones that will never charge you (freebizmags subscriptions). Geez, I moved, and those bozos found out my new address, and keep sending me magazines that just go straight to the garbage can! They've even called me to ask me how I like my free subscription, and I've told them that I don't read their magazine, it goes straight to the trash, and I wish they would unsubscribe me......and they keep sending them! It's no wonder my mail carrier looks so tired!
