Do you have to buy seperate cables when assembling your own PC?

If OEM parts like hard drives don't come with anything but the hard drive itself, do you need to buy seperate cables?
I never really have seen anybody's "rate my PC build" and included cables in what they are getting, so I'm not sure.
If somebody were to buy their parts from NewEgg, for example, and most of the components were OEM, what cables would be necessary to buy, if at all?

In general, when building from scratch, the mobo often comes with many basic cables (SATA/IDE/FDD) for your various drives.

My mobo and its many attachments: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813130081

Your PSU will have the cables for powering the devices in your rig. So no, generally you don't need to buy more cables, unless your mobo doesn't come with them. I bought no additional cables for both of my recent builds.

*Edit - If you go with an "open box" mobo, chances are good that you'll get no cables and have to purchase them all yourself.
