Consider all your assets (house, car, investments, etc) and all your debt (student payments, mortgage, credit cards, etc). Is your assets > ur debt?
if so by how much? just a ball park of course.
if not, how much are you in the hole?

I am several k in the hole. Owe on my car, and owe on my credit card.

I can pay the CC off easily enough, but the car will take time

well thats not true. You owe 9.7k, but u might be able to sell ur car for 7k, then u are only 3k in the hole

house, cars, trucks... all paid for in cash the day we got them.

we put a fair bit of $$$ on the credit cards while fixing up the house. We did it ourselves, so took a lot of time off work to do it... so, we are paying off the credit card bills now.

so we have a lot more than we owe.

:)

I'm just a kid, not in school so I don't have that hefty debt hanging over my head. Bought my 2 cars in cash, they're worth about 8 grand and I have a few G's in cash and no debt, i'll take it.

Workign on it. And depending on how you view your home, yes or no.

The way I look at it, I am far from having a positive net worth. In terms of financial strength, I want no debt at all. And that is not the case. Probably won't be for a very long time because I have to keep up with the Jones'

$0.00 debt, but I'm in graduate school so the assets aren't terribly impressive. Just my car, my clothes, my books, some well-worn furniture, my rigs, and a modest savings account. Not having a credit card = priceless.

Depends how you look at it. He is specifically counting a mortgage as debt, so I and most other young people have more debts than assets, due to my mortgage.

Well...yes....I do have a positive net worth...but it's aweful close. I won't feel like I truly do until I get the buffer down and start paying off my house in larger chunks and finally get rid of my credit card debt.... I called to cancel my cellphone the other day so at least that'll free up $45 a month. :)
