Do you have more than one revenue stream (aside from your day job)

I was catching up with my friend Chris. A long time friend of Chris is a general contractor. That friend built him a 3 apartment unit for about $400K in greater Boston area. They were friends for 30+ years. He charged ZERO for labor and only charged for materials with all receipts.

That 3-unit is just a cross from Chris. That is his gold mine for REST of his life on top of his day job.

I'm so happy for Chris and very envious of him. I wish I had an opportunity like that.

Somebody paid for the labor, and there are several different types of sub-contractors that would be wanting to be paid to build a legally permitted dwelling.

I have a chainsaw. I want that to be my money maker when I quit what I'm doing. I was on a job a couple days ago that was logged. The loggers left thousands of $ in slash laying in the forest. All quality oak firewood. Just needs someone to go handle it. That someone could be me, but I don't feel like it. Not ready to get in the firewood business at this point.

Aside from sucking on the govt teat, I get income from investments which is mostly reinvested.

Aside from investments (that will provide additional income at some point) we have a side business and I have a tertiary side hustle that could be more monetized if I needed

Yeah, something just doesn't add up in the OP's story. Even if that friend did every bit of the work, we're talking about several man-months worth of labor, at least.

I have an At&T cell tower on my property pays about $2000 a month plus I'm supposed to get additional percentage when they add upgrades but they don't. I'd have to sue to get that probably.

I don't, but I really need to start thinking about it. I have a job that would easily be outsourced or moved down south and I could lose it and there arn't a lot of tech jobs here. Thankfully I don't think that's going to happen as we've been through tons of those times and we are never touched. But I really do need to seriously start thinking about backup income via a hobby or something.

I do have a bit of adsense money that comes in through my sites, but it's not exactly enough to really consider as a help. It might help pay for the server hosting and that's about it.

Damn that's awesome. I wish I didn't work in telecom sometimes, since I actually had an opportunity for something similar but it was ruled a conflict of interest. Basically I was going to buy a property with a tower on it and then rent it out. Of course I'd have to actually find tenants. Always thought it would be cool to have a tower.

Definitely do what you can to keep that contract going, it's a pretty nice gig with minimal work. Are you allowed to put stuff on the tower if you wanted to? Could make for a nice ADS-B or Igate site. :D (I imagine anything that transmits would be more iffy)

Do they give you free Microwave popcorn, to leave on the counter and pop, to go with all of that EMF radiation? :p

I kinda want to try to pop microwave popcorn in front of a microwave dish now using a drone. :p I need to find some low VSWR rated popcorn.

I think microwave dishes and cell sectors only put out like 40w though. AM/FM radio towers on the other hand... thousands of watts. Too low of a frequency to really cook anything though but it will give you nice RF burn and your teeth fillings will sing, especially with AM as the entire tower itself is the antenna.

I don't live near it, it's just on a property I own. although I've seen houses almost directly under those high tension power wires. Those are strong enough EMF to set off my non-contact voltage tester just driving under them.

I can feel high tension lines when I work under them. You can feel the electricity through you fingers when you touch a metal pole in the ground. I also used to get headaches, but that hasn't happened the last couple times. I wouldn't live under them.

Interesting I'll have to try to notice that next time I'm hanging out near one. Supposedly you can make fluorescent bulbs light up too.

I always found they were super tempting to climb, but probably super illegal. Could get some interesting photography shots from one though. Ideally stay far from the actual lines lol.

This shot turned out neat from the ground though.
