You know you hit a page with a Java applet when the browser grinds to a halt and there is a grey box in the middle of the screen. I have been coding Java since 1996 and I will be the first to admit that it's the ugliest, slowest language for client apps. It's embarrassing that after 8 years Sun still can't make a decent looking GUI for it.

i know, i used to be a big fan. but not anymore.

oh the answer is yes, i do have java.
 
doesn't Java Runtime engine ship with all Windows OS's now?? i know for a short period of time, MS pulled it because of their lawsuit with sun.

but i heard all the newer copies of WinXP Pro all come with Java RunTime.

For those who answeed no . . . java, flash, and av are probably the first 3 things to go on any computer I wipe. I can't imaine using a computer without java . . . I mean EVERYTUALLY you will come across something that needs it.
