They're are glitches on the outer film on your eyes (don't know the technical term) It's like having a one or two dead pixels on your monitor.. it's like a very small black dot that follows you around where-ever you look.. I guess the best example would be like the crossheir on FPS 3D games.. it follows u around..

I have two of them on my left eye.. two distinguishable black dots accompanied with two long strings.. (kinda looks like those microscopic germs)

I talked to the eye doctor abaout this and she said I wouldn't worry too much about it... many people it get it..

They're hardly noticable in daily life, I can only see them when I concentrate to look for them while staring at something very plain.. (like white wall, blue sky..)

Do you have them?? if you do, how many? :D

Most companies require around 5-8 of them before RMA, so you might be out of luck on replacements.

I got em...

I also have some little like flashes (white objects that zip around sorta like lightening or something to that effect) when looking at something white or the sky.

It sucks, but I'm used to them...

My optomitrist said to be wary of those ...they could be a sign of problems. Go get it checked out.<--- Seriously. It may be normal, but it is worth checking.

The "string things" are common to everyone though...it's the constant ones you always notice that are bad.

"Flashes" are also something she warned about.

I wonder if our medical technology is advanced enough to remove those floaters microscopically..

I doubt it.. it's like trying a find a contact lens in your swimming pool

I thought they were bits of organic material floating in the liquid inside the eye itself. As far as I know everyone has them.

<< (flo´ters) "spots before the eyes"; deposits in the vitreous of the eye, usually moving about and probably representing fine aggregates of vitreous protein occurring as a benign degenerative change. >>

Miller-Keane Medical Dictionary, 2000

Vitreous is the liquid in the interior of the eye.....floaters are not found in the outer layers of the eyeball.

They're usually benign and not harmful.......but if you are bothered by them ro they are increasing in numbers, go see an opthomologist....not an optomitrist, who is NOT an MD.

yep, lots, of them. I can track 5 or 6 at any given time. My left eye has more, wonder if the cornea transplant has anything to do with it?

Everyone has floaters.
Most look like little wiggling worm type things.
They are what make you lose your vision.

See a doctor about this.It can be a symptom of diabetes too. You need to be checked. I hope its nothing too serious, but I must confess.I am not a fan of getting medical advice from this forum. Not this kind. Do a web search for the topic and go from there.

IMHO.;)

These are supposed to correct themselves over time from what I hear. Not correct, but become unnoticeable over time...your brain starts filling in what you can't see with memory

I've got floaters bad. I've had them ever since I had an accident in the army and my retina detatched.

They have some doctors that remove them with lasers. Seems to be pretty safe.
