None of it's really necessary. I don't *need* a computer, but I don't upgrade it often. Dual 1800+ is good enough for a few years.

Not really, my computer is powerful enough for my needs, but then I might replace that 60 gig hard drive with a 120 gig......

I used to upgrade all the time, but that was because computers wern't powerful enough to do the basic things that I was doing.

I do want to upgrade in a few months, but I haven't fully upgraded in 2 or more years.

I upgrade a little before I really 'need' to, but I wouldn't say I'm obsessed. Lately I've been more obsessed with upgrading my apartment instead of my computer. I just bought myself my first TV, a sweet Toshiba 32", so thats my last big purchase for a while. Between that, Christmas, and my daughter's birthday on Feb. 5th I'm gonna be all wiped out.

I'll probbably upgrade to 64bit in 2004 though.. all depends on when they're coming out with the Mazdaspeed Version of the Mazda3

About every 6 months, although after my current build, I might hold off for a little while and upgrade to a newer laptop (which will take some time to build up the extra $$$).

I used to, but not anymore. That's why I still have my AthlonXP 2000+ with a GeForce2 that I built a year and a half ago.

I used to... in the days of 486, Pentium and K62. I'm still using an Athlon 1.4 gHz as my main machine. Good thing that I put this system together two years ago... Ever since getting married a year and a half ago, I have not had the money to waste into computer systems.

Yeah I could careless about my machien these days.. parts and software is so cheap (free) these days that its no biggy. Since the economy sucks and I don't have a job, I'd rather not spend my left over cash on computer crap.

I have my urges every once in awhile but I can ussually negate them. Like I have been wanting to upgrade to a gig of PC3500 or so instead of my current 512 of PC2100 and PC2700 but I don't think that it is REALLY a very good thing to spend money on. I have a 182 FSB right now and the chip is an AMD @ almost 2.3 GHZ. Will uping the FSB by 30mhz or so really be justified ? no not at all so I say screw it and hope someone else buys me some ram for XMAS =)
