Many, I won't go into boring details.

My Father and My Uncle both told me I should write a book before I passed away, but won't bore everyone.

They weren't even being sarcastic at the time, though they were famous for that.

Almost flunked out of college and got a second chance, worked my ass off at work and got a graduate degree part-time then asked myself what the hell the point was, stayed at a really bad job for five years just to have the paycheck and asked myself why I was at a job that made me want to kill myself every morning then quit and now changing careers.

Yep my original college choice didn't work out so I was forced to transfer after my first semester freshman year. After transferring to the new school I got into a degree program that wasn't offered at the other school. That degree changed the direction my life was going in and now I have a career based on it.

I would have to say Aug 2-3 1990.. after barely escaping with my life the invasion of Kuwait City.

My perspective on many things definitely changed after that.

Not much other than quitting WoW. ;) I sleep at a respectable hour now instead of 2am. I'm in bed when my wife goes to sleep.

Nothing much changed when I had emergency surgery nor when my kids were born. Pretty stable life so far.

I will say that going away for college was a pretty big shock though. All that freedom. Getting into whatever trouble comes along the way and learning from it. I fear the day my kids have to go through the same thing.

Accepting my current job a few years ago has probably altered the path of my life more than anything else.

Probably when I bought my house. It was just so surreal to not only actually own a piece of property I can call my own, but to actually move out of my parents and have my own independence.

Though another pivotal point would be when I finished school/college. It was such a huge load off my back to know that it was done done and done. No more school. No more tests, no more studying, no more homework. It actually took me months for it to really sink in that it was completely over. Funny thing is, I sometimes still dream about school. Then I wake up, and thank God that it was just a dream. :p I did not HATE it, but did not really like it either, and just knew it had to be done.

When I was a kid I could not wait to be an adult with a real life, finish schooling, have a house and own freedom and make money and all that, and it's crazy to think that it went so fast and I'm actually at that point in life now.

Now life is good and I hope it just stays that way, but I also feel that I need to do more with myself. Start a major project or hobby, make money on the side, start working out more, start eating healthier, stuff like that.

when my wife and i got married, it literally changed absolutely nothing in our relationship other than we got a tax break.

Going from single and living by yourself and the lifestyle that has vs buying a home that needs more furniture..etc plus an instant family as she had 2 kids...is quite a turn around.
Hell my taxes never even reflected a break worth noting. I went from receiving a check to owing the IRS. Tried filing separately but it worked out the same.

Probably the US Army. I had low self esteem before then. I excelled at most everything and promoted quickly. 30+ years later i realize that most everyone else is just dumb and/or lazy.

I was in culinary school and schmoozing at an opera one night because some big name chefs were there and I was looking for an apprenticeship. Intermission was an hour long so everyone was mingling in the ballroom drinking champagne and whatnot. There was a small group of about 5 people chatting and one of them was a renowned chef so I wandered close looking for an opportunity to insert myself into the conversation. After a few minutes someone made a witty remark about something and I jumped in with an equally witty retort that got everyone laughing. I hung out with them for a while being subtle and only giving my first name when someone asked. Eventually the lights dimmed and we started to separate but my eyes made contact with one of the women in the group and there was some sort of spark. I hadn't really paid attention to anyone but the chef so I didn't realize how gorgeous she was. She was honestly a 9 (I'm an average 5 at best) but something in that moment of eye contact made me ask her out and she said yes.

We dated for about a week when she sat me down for a serious conversation. She told me she had been with a lot of guys and that I was seriously skilled in bed. It wasn't the after the fun "that was great" compliment. She had told me she was an actress before but elaborated that she was an adult actress and wanted me to meet some of her employers. I did, and on her recommendation they paid me the going rate at the time ($100) for a scene. I impressed them and got steady work.

I dropped out of culinary school and moved up the ladder in my new industry to where i am today. (The girl and I weren't meant to be, that was just a fling.)

$100 a scene? That seems kind of low considering how hard that kind of industry can stick with you your whole life like a stigma.

That was almost 30 years ago. Men were $100, women $2,000. Today's rate is $1,000 for men, $10k and up for women. These are the numbers for straight work, not alternative work. Some of our gay men make $20k per scene but I'm no where near hot enough. I get by on 6-10 scenes a week.
