Both ears, 12 gauge captive bead rings. I bought some 10 gauge rings yesterday< I'm debating whether to put them in myself or get the holes stretched properly first.

It's a natural reaction. Things going in your peehole is something anybody will have a bad reaction to. If you can get over the thought just either snag some novocaine (you can also get Stay-Long at your local "adult" store for a similar effect) or take 600mg of Advil beforehand. It'll still hurt but it'll hurt a lot less.

2 isn't bad. I bought a 0, but never got the chance to put it in. It's heavy and I would have actually had to have my hole stretched (making the jokes too easy to be tempting?) for this one. Never did before.

I would venture a guess that the geniuses out there with 1/2" holes in their lobes have done permanent damage.

It's quite possible. I know if I take out my piercing for a while it can be tough getting it back in, especially if I sleep between taking it out and putting it back in.
