I have 4, and I'm trying my very best not to kill them.

a white-veined fittonia
a philodrendrum with spade-shaped leaves
a fluffy ruffles fern
and a relatively large alocasia polly that is proving the most difficult to care for

I'd say we have about 40 indoor plants of various shapes and sizes.

My wife seems to collect them. Its like a rainforest in here.

just 3, 2 are the same type
my wife has a black thumb, if it wasn't for me watering them a couple times a month, they'd be dead

And it almost died. I was watering it and it still was doing poorly. So I picked up some miracle grow plant sticks, little sticks of plant food that you stick in the soil . It is now huge and growing more very day. I keep it near a window but not in direct light. The sticks were cheap too , about $2 for 20 or so , only use 2 a month.

I got 3 houseplants a few months ago. Some large leaved plant for the living room and two ivy plants.

The ivies have been a big mess though. They've got some sort of white fungus on the soil, which apparently attacks fungus flies. My apartment has been filled with this little black gnats. It annoyed me enough that I just put the ivies outside. Apparently I've been water too much which caused the fungus. I probably gave them 1 cup of water every two weeks. I'm not sure if I'm going to give up and buy new ones are try to fix these.

Curious about how much oxygen a plant produces and the studies by nasa say that 4 areca palm plants at shoulder height for the average adult can convert enough co2 to oxygen for 1 person.
May consider this for my apartment as I don't open the windows for fresh air as much as I should.
They also list the money plant for removing toxins like formaldehyde from the air.
