I always see people slamming other tastes in music...
Dismissing an entire genre as crap.

I'm glad I like a little bit of everything.
Some of my favorite artists:

Black Sabbath
Skip James
Rolling Stones
Beastie Boys
Iggy Pop & the Stooges
Portishead
Jerry Lee Lewis
Pink Floyd
The Clash
Ultramagnetic MC's
Sly and the Family Stone
Jackson 5
Dick Dale & His Del-Tones
N.W.A.
Public Eneny
Willie Nelson
Chet Atkins
Nas
Eric Clapton
The Who
Mozart
Prince
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Miles Davis
John Coltraine
DJ Shadow

Plus a ton more and alot of underground artists that might not be recognized here...
I haven't come across any genre of music that I dislike as a whole...

Anyone else the same way ?

yes, I really listen to most every type of music. There are only a couple types of music that I can't really apreciate: most punk, country and death metalish stuff(the stuff thats really hard and really fast)

Eclectic? Yea, I'd say so. I have stuff like NIN, Tool and Metallica alongside Joni Mitchell, Red House Painters and Low. I am a little light on R&B and don't have anything that would qualify as rap, though.

I'll listen to nearly anything.

Some of my favorite bands:

Rob Zombie
Weezer
Sublime
Chemical Brothers
System of a Down
Disturbed
Morcheeba
Dave Matthews Band
Tool
Green Day
Rolling Stones
AC/DC
Cream
Led Zeppelin
Avalanches
X-Ecutioners
Oingo Boingo
Queen

Of course, I'll listen to Jazz, Country, Pop, Classical as well.

The only bands I CAN NOT STAND:
Cranberries (Why people want to listen to a singer that sounds like a dying rabbit is beyond me)
Britney Spears (no explanation needed)
No Doubt (they were OK but now it's overplayed trash)
any R&B group. They all sound the same.

Oh yeah, almost forgot.. I stopped listening to Rap as of last year. It's just not the same anymore now that all these stupid wannabe bling-bling gangsta fools have come out of the woodwork. The message has long been lost and now its a battle of who's got the fattest wallet and the bustiest b!tches. I'll pass.

I listen to almost everything except blues, jazz, and other types of slow music

I like trance/techno, rock, some rap, r&b, some pop, and whatever else is out there

<< yes... i like ALL kinds of music >>

I love it when I see people say this. Then I drop names like Deicide, Brutal Truth, Cannibal Corpse, etc. and they're like "Who?".

Anyway, I'd say my tastes are fairly unique here. You can go to these sites to see the kind of stuff I like:

Century Media
Earache
Relapse
Metal Blade

That's quicker than just dropping names. You can get some downloads too.

Warning: Content may be offensive to some!

Jazz, Blues (who said it was slow) Rock, Old Country (none of this new country garbage) Classical, Soul, and some rap (more for the novelty than because it sounds good)

I listen to pretty much anything, except for most pop music (I just get annoyed by it).

My collection, however, includes only my favorites, such as:
Rock (from classic to alternative to grunge to metal)
Electronic (trance, happy hardcore, industrial)
Jazz (mostly everything)
Classical (everything in "classical", including minimalism, atonalism, etc)

I've even started listening to some noisecore lately, which is really crazy stuff.

Yeesh... ok then... Time for some PERL magic :)

eh, screw PERL... LS > bands.txt was a lot easier :)

btw, most of the classic stuff I don't have ripped because those CD's belong to my Dad and Mom.

Rock and Roll (Classic Rock), Oldies, Jazz, Old Country (Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, etc), Quasi-Country (Charlie Daniels, Alabama, etc), Folk, Bluegrass, Blues, and Classical. I refuse to listen to Rap, most Pop, and most modern Country.

Zenmervolt - Do you like Johnny Horton? His tunes always brings back memories of my Dad and his brother playing cribbage in the wintertime for some reason :)

I will listen to ,ost music except new country which is just too twangy for me. Some metal I don't really like. Deathmetal for example, I don't mind the music but the lyrics ruin it for me.

Top Bands of All Time (updated as I see fit)
1) Metallica
2) Zao
3) Nile
4) Dimmu Borgir
5) Emperor
6) Dream Theater
7) Guns n Roses
8) Slayer

The name sounds vaguely familiar... I suppose I'll be needing to find some of his songs now.

Well the topic is *eclectic* taste in music, not *obscure*

Also if someone says they like all kinds of music you can't expect them to have listened to every artist on the planet.

I don't know if it's eclectic as much as picky. ;)

Ask anyone that has seen me post to a "Music" thread around here. :)

your first list has a lot of blues influenced artists

Mucman
You got Abba next to Accept. Isn't that like, "hey! you got your peanut butter in my chocolate."

I'm constantly listening to the local college radio stations for stuff I've never heard before and some local bands too. (linky to one of my neighbors' band)

right now I'm listening to The Mavericks, "Tell Me Why" from the album Trampoline. Its on my MP3 DASD at work - 9,319 songs, 38.3 Gigs

Do I have an eclectic taste in music? Probably not. My favorite bands right now in no particular order...

AC/DC
Aerosmith
Boston
Grateful Dead
Green Day
Guns and Roses
Men Without Hats
Metallica
Styx
