Do you have a Roku TV? Question!

I have encountered what I figure has to be a bug in Roku. I am using a TCL 43S405 43" 4K Roku TV. I have a 16GB flash drive in the USB port and the TV is configured to timeshift, i.e. it does up to 90 minutes watching off the air (antenna) TV, featuring PAUSE/REWIND/FASTFORWARD.

If I start watching an OTA channel, press PAUSE, then after, say 20 minutes, come back and press PAUSE again, it will play from where I originally paused. If I press the * key, I get the Options menu. If I press the * again, the Options menu disappears and I can resume from where I was. However, if I press the * again, I'm stuck. I can't resume.

I just tried calling Roku support and it's impossible to get through. You get through a menu and put in a queue, but it has background music and says something like "wait time is 14 minutes." A few minutes later it says "wait time is 17 minutes." It goes on like that indefinitely. IOW, I can't reach support. This happened just now and it happened the other day. I was able to reach them several months ago when I first used the TV, but not now.

Can you confirm the anomalous behavior?

It doesn't happen all the time, have no idea why. But I think there is a way out of the apparent lockup. The left pointing arrow just under the power button on the remote and left of the Home button. It's the " Back Button":

Pressing it will get you out of the predicament. Strange behavior IMO.

You should be calling TCL, not Roku. Did you try updating the firmware on the S405?
Did you try a different flash drive?

I tried several different flash drives. Funny thing I noticed the last few days. NBC (channel 11 here OTA) I'm getting definite lip synch, and I don't know that it matters where I am in the buffer (IOW, 5 minutes or 50 minutes) but with CBS (channel 5), I am not detecting lip synch issues.

Still not sure, but seems like sometimes the audio precedes the video, sometimes it's the opposite. Kind of drives me crazy trying to figure out which is ahead, it's that close. But it is annoying!

Yeah, I'll try TCL next time, IIRC, they were much more accessible than Roku is! Thanks!

I think I have the latest FW, not positive. Should call TCL and find out. The TV is maybe a year out of the factory.
