To boost sound quality and enhance bass sound
It is very good, even cheap speakers sound like high end speaker.
Rocks :music:

EMU 0404 > AOS Piccolo portable DAC > Shellbrook Audio Lab Maxi Moy headphone amp > Audio-Technica A900 or Koss KSC75.

Does the amp help the A900 much?

I output the PC sound to a Sony mini hifi system. Does great for music, sucks for 5.1 surround.

I have probes that connect my computer to my testicles. Does that count?

As you know A900 doesn't need amping, but it does give the A900 a bit more boost. Once you amp, you never wanna go back.

I have the A500, and am contemplating on a cheap amp like a cmoy to see what's all this fuss about.. all the phones I own (Koss KSC35, AT A500 and Shure E2c) won't benefit much from amps though :brokenheart:

Absolutely. Just a halfway decent Sony amp connected to 5.0 (no sub) speakers.

Save your money for better cans, the A series doesn't really need amping. You're getting maybe 5% improvement. I bought it for use w/ either the Grado 325i or the Alessandro MS2i. Never got around to buying them. Maybe next year.

There used to be a place called headsave that sells made to order headamps there better than the cmoy. Owner got overwhelmed by orders, closed business.

I've even tried it with media player 9.0's
srs enhancement and it sounded crap without receivers.

Nothing comes close to sound quality of receivers. Some receiver sound better then others so they are not all made equal but any receiver is better then no receiver. with just my speaker hooked up directly to the computer, the sound quality is like pc speaker.
you know that beep beep speaker in your computer?

I'm really blown away by the sound quality, just like being in the theaters with high fidelity speakers. Those who never tried it, you should if you love musics and movies
