Do you? Have any of you had employers contact you through this website? Have you actually gotten an offer an accepted it through LinkedIn?

yes and yes

Not looking for a job though so I turn down employers and head hunters, but a few buddies have gone a bit further and got offers.

I have a 100% complete profile on it; I get about one request a week from recruiters looking to fill software developer positions.

neat. I might create a profile soon. Do you have to provide your personal information on their like your phone number and e-mail address? I want employers to be able to contact me, but I don't want random people on the internet to have access to my information like that.

yes I have one but I never get contacted for jobs directly.

Is it because I don't have a 100% complete profile with all the duties and responsibilities under each job?

I joined membership groups but they are useless.

100% of people contacting me have done so through LinkedIn's built-in private messaging system. I don't have my phone number on the site. I don't think my e-mail address is listed either, but I don't mind doing so - spam software is sophisticated enough these days that I'm not worried about that sort of problem anymore.

I had my profile up for more than a year at 80% completion - meaning no duties/responsibilites listed for the places I've been employed - and got next to no contacts. In the three or four months since getting to 100% completion, it's almost too much interest.

Yes, I've got a profile.

I actually got a really good contact through it in December. I started doing the phone interview process and this past Friday they told me they were going to fly me out to do the on site interview.

I wouldn't recommend it as your ONLY way of looking for a job but it isn't bad in addition to other things.

Interesting replies, which encourages me to fill it out since I've only very basic info up on it right now. Looking for a job so anything that might help would be good!

I do, though I haven't done the 100% thing -- I don't want to ask someone for a recommendation, that's really awkward.

Yes and I get high level contacts for job opportunities through it all the time. Either looking for me or seeking to network through me for recommendations.

I have a profile but do not get any job offers. My completeness is at 80% and my job title is owner/partner of a small unknown company without any sales focused on developing some patents; so I am not looking for a job anyway.

A friend went through a recommendation phase where he gave recommendations to all his co-workers and many of them gave him recommendations in return. Within a couple weeks, he accumulated 9 positive reviews.

These reviews worked for him since he recently obtained a position with a new technical company with a position titled "Director of Sales".

Do not get me started. I joined an electrical engineering group. It was just a bunch of non native people saying, "I, <some hard to pronounce name>, have bs engineering in electrical, have 4.2 year in electrica field. I have interest in position. Please find my profile."
The worst thing about it is that lots of times they are not even responding to a job post.

Yes, no, and no.

Made one partly because I found a really close friend on there I lost contact with, and partly to whore myself out on the internet. Most of my profile is open, and it comes up when you Google. Luckily, there are 5 people in the same city that share my name...

Yes, yes, and yes. I highly recommend LinkedIn. In the future I think employees and recruiters will all go to LinkedIn as automatically as people today use Google for search.

I got the job I am currently in because the recruiter searched for the relevant skills and found my profile. He contacted me (I wasn't even looking for work) and I took the position.
