On those rare occasions when everything seems to go your way, do you have a happy dance? What is it?

I just got the appraisal for my house and it looks like my taxes might go down. So I sort of ran in place waving my arms and grinning like a fool.

Well, it's a double edged sword. I don't plan on moving any time soon so having lower taxes is more of a priority for me. Some day I might get around to remodeling but in the meantime, I just don't want to be charged for things I don't actually have. After all, it's in the town's best interest to gouge you for whatever they can so if they can say you have a modern kitchen when in fact you don't, they're going to do it.

They come into your house? eff that. Thankfully we have a "5% increase every 5 years" rate cap and we bought 21 years ago before the market explosion.

I guess my happy dance would be where you made a fist and pull it in towards your body quickly and with authority, like you're doing a pull-down exercise. You can also vocalize "FUCK YEAH" or "Yessss" or something similar. I do that sometimes (when I haxor something at work, for example) so I guess it's my happy dance.

Like this fucking gangster:

I don't get happy enough to warrant any kind of dance. My big thrill this week was finding a broken gas can. That's about as good as it gets, and I'm not dancin' for that shit.

Typical white bread excuse. :hi5;

My wife has a small plaque that says, "We're fools whether we dance or not so we might as well dance."

Yup. And it's usually when I get unexpected food, particularly when I'm in a pinch (working on a project OT + blood sugar running low), and especially when the food turns out to be awesome. Latest example was after spending a day off tearing out drywall from a mold-related water leak issue in my bathroom, went for a supply run, and discovered that Whole Foods not only sold tacos, but that they were excellent tacos. No energy + not having to cook + delicious food = gif below:

And yes, I get overly excited about simple things.

I don't have a happy dance, but if my taxes actually went DOWN, I think I would make one up on the spot.

Sadly I think even if my house value went down I doubt the taxes would, but when the house value goes back to what it was, they would raise the taxes in a heart beat. Our taxes go up by about 10% every year, well so does everything else. Not looking forward to the hike this year due to the multi million dollar Canada 150 concert.

We've been looking for a house this year & the last three homes we've looked at have had a $1,000 annual increase on their yearly property tax bill for the past 8 or 9 years. Super awful. I don't want to be paying property tax in close to the amount the mortgage is, yuck!
