I need someone to record tonight's (Tuesday 7/27) O'Reilly Factor on DVD. It's the matchup that we've all been waiting for. Bigger than Tyson vs. Holyfield.

O'Reilly vs. Michael Moore

If you can record this for me, I'll paypal you some cash.

I don't think it's illegal to record things off TV for personal use, otherwise TiVo would be banned already. BUT... what if it was used for resale, then maybe it's crossing the legal barrier? lol!

Einstein, I'm willing to pay someone to ship it to me. I'm not buying the TV program. Wise up.

Dumbass, it doesn't make it any less illegal because you can't distribute the shows either.

Considered a purchase/transaction, and therefore illegal.

Distributing for free is a grey area, provided the people you're distributing to could have watched it anyway. Showing it publicly is usually illegal if it's on a cable network, save for certain conditions. (Bars, restaurants, etc.)

Someone will record it though. You may be able to get it on suprnova.org in a few days. :p

(Oh yeah, their forums would be the appropriate place to post this request. ;))

I think if you let a friend watch it for free, it is perfectly legal.
I have looked over the Sony Beta Max casee, and it is very clear on this issue.

To any of you who posted that this is illigal, why do you care. If either of them gets in trouble, then they will.

Take that brick out of your ass and don't worry about posting whether something is illegal or not. It's not your problem.

I don't care what he does. I was actually considering helping him, but he came off like such a dick that I changed my mind.

A thought occurs to me: have you ever posted anything that wasn't either a news post or a flame?

I really don't understand what everyone's problem in this thread is.

I've seen plenty of people ask to cap something for them. Why is this different, cuz he offered money? Maybe he thought that someone might ask for something in return for their time.

Maybe I'm missing something.

To the OP, sorry. If I had known earlier, I would have taped it at home on my computer, but I had to call and have someone record it on the VCR. Otherwise, I would help you out. I *could* always convert it, but it might be really bad quality. Let me know if you don't have any luck.
