I have very little brand loyalty, I buy things has as little bells and whistles as possible.

Henckels Twin - last a life time
lodge iron pan - last a life time
Laptop - Only business class
Car - Manual with as little electronics as possible
bike - single speed - nothing can go wrong.
Tires - no Chinese brand
TV - As heavy and thick as possible - better cooling/component. My Hitachi plasma have 3 cooling fans, work like new 10yrs later.
Stove - Gas with 0 electronics, my blue star don't even have clock.

The only brand I keep going back is MS :p
Love all my MS explorer mouse, love my WP.

Only one I can think of that I've stayed consistent with is Nvidia graphics cards...but if the right AMD product came along when I was looking to upgrade I don't think I'd have an issue switching- just seems every time I'm looking, Nvidia's always had the upper hand at the time.

Not really. Many companies go through cycles. They build something good for a while, then build up loyalty and get lazy. Then the products start to go to crap. Then sales go down and companies freak out and start to address those concerns and start putting out better products. Rinse, repeat.

Blind loyalty ends up with lazy products. GM is prime example of that.

No brand loyalty here, and that's what's great about competition. Brand loyalty can blind you to new innovations and useful features.

Every car company is a prime example of that.

GM is doing great since the fall, so is Ford and Mazda. Bad times FORCE companies to get their crap together and come up with innovative/exciting products.

Toyota/Honda on the other hand, is a perfect example of lazy.....bland and stuck in that cycle.

Can't wait to see them fall.......just so we can get some excitement out of them.

Oh, that's a good one too- my whole home theater system is all SVS (speakers + sub) - I'd probably go w/ them again when/if I upgrade or need a new system

I have two PB12's that I use in my setup, but my speakers are EmpTek E5bi's with the E5Ci center. Took a gamble on them and I've been really happy. I looked hard at the SVS speakers but couldn't justify the extra cost for primarily home theater usage.

Every car company is a prime example of that.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but innovation isn't ALWAYS a good thing. For example, I drove a 2014 or 2015 Malibu (I forget the year) prior to buying my last car. There was some "feature" that shut the car off if you were stopped at a light, and then when you let off the brake and hit the gas the whole car lurched before it went. The sales guy said you can't turn it off, and he also claimed he's never heard of problems with it. I call BS -- that's EXACTLY the kind of thing that is going to magically be a nightmare when you're out of warranty.

Edit again: Here it is from their site (and FWIW, you definitely could feel it happening, contrary to what they say, I noticed...):

INNOVATIVE STOP/START TECHNOLOGY: WHEN STOPPING KEEPS YOU GOING
Stop/start technology is an innovative way to help you save gas†. Here’s how it works: When the brakes are applied and your car comes to a stop, the engine can automatically shut off. Features such as the audio system, climate control and lights remain unaffected.

When the brake pedal is released, Malibu immediately restarts. So quiet, you might not notice it at all. One thing you will notice, however, are the fuel savings. So seamless, so simple, so smart. It’s just another way Malibu delivers precise engineering.

Toyota/Honda on the other hand, is a perfect example of lazy.....bland and stuck in that cycle.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Some of us just want reliable efficient cars, and that's exactly what they provide. I don't disagree with you about the cycles thing, but Honda/Toyota don't need to change much to keep my business.

Maytag for washer/dryer. Toyota for cars. Zero problem with either ever.

Maytag has been owned by Whirlpool for years and they are made on the exact same line as the Whirlpools and other rebranded washers. Not that that is a bad thing but an fyi. Don't pay extra for the Maytag unless it has the options you want.

I think I have developed one. When it came to buying my last couple of cars, they were both Toyota; Appliances, washer dryer and refrigerator were LG and TV was Sony. No matter how hard I tried, I kept coming back to those brands. Maybe I am getting old... Do you have one?
I think you misplaced the semicolon... ;)

I have a certain affinity towards BMWs.

Not so, Maytag appliances are a bit different, and exact same thing cannot be found in whirlpool. For example almost all Maytags come with garbage disposal, where as Whirpool tries to stay away from it and most Whirlpool models do not have garbage disposal because its the part that breaks most easily and commonly. Maytag is more a commercial use type, sold to builders and apartment folks, they are built sturdy but with less features to keep them cheap and durable.

Ohh, don't even get me going. I agree 100%

I'm SCARED to buy ANY new car. From push button starts, to auto brakes, to drive by wife EVERYTHING.......and other BS I don't want or need.

It's next to impossible to get a basic car with little complexity now days.

Now you see why I drive older cars.....

Garbage disposals are the worst possible thing you can have in your house.

Yeah, Maytag, cause the commercial said so.....:bang bang:

And yes, they are owned by Whirlpool.....

So what happens to the AC? it stops too? that would be a deal breaker in TX heat...

I don't think we can ever go with a dishwasher without a garbage disposal, we do not prewash our dishes, there a significant amount of food particles still sticking to the plates when they go it. If the dish washer was without one it will probably die soon.

I don't think the car fully shuts off, so the AC compressor would maintain functionality. Otherwise, yes, it would be awful in TX. Strange though, I (nor my parents) ever owned a car with a working AC during the 20+ years I lived in Texas. It was terrible.

Even today its not uncommon, I personally know a few people who do not use AC, they drive nice cars, but never use AC.
