nah. my friends never really ask me for anything major, and I don't mind helping them with simple stuff like upgrades, cleaning up their pc, troubleshooting their home network, etc.

ordinarily it doesn't bother me too much. my uncle actually pays me for the phone time. but when i get a call at 2 AM from a friend who needs to know right away why his freaking wireless network isn't working, i have to admit i get a tad testy.

No, My friends either come with a case of beer, or buy me dinner for tech support. The ones that don't don't get tech support 😀 I don't mind it so long as I don't go out of my way. I mean I'm not driving over to their place at midnight to work on their comp, they bring it over, we chill while I fix it then they take it back to their place.

Heh I felt that way for a while, one of my dad's golfing buddy's kept calling asking for help, I'm sittin there thinking you are a lawyer pay someone to deal with this. Then last summer when I couldn't find a job he offered me one for $10 an hour filing in his law office, which is cool because I want to be a lawyer. So helpin people out sometimes has a way of coming back to you. He also offered to pay me $15 an hour (holiday pay) over break to do the same thing.
