do you hate it when you buy something a week before and the next week something better comes out?

Never bothers me. Only a week and I usually return it for something better. (It usually takes me a week to get started with building a desk anyway.)

....like a computer part........yup, I hate it hate it hate it. It's like if I buy a 1.5ghz cpu today, by next week, a 2.5 would come out. Not only that, but the 1.5ghz becomes discounted at a lower price....

I'm scared to upgrade my computer now..............

No, I love it when I buy an item and just when the return period is past a newer, better version is released and the old one drops 50% in price. Why do you think I wouldn't?

That happened to me with Netscape Navigator. A new version came out like 3 days after I bought it at Sun Electronics. Sun wouldn't take it back, Netscape refused to give me an upgrade, I was hot!!!! :|

Yep that's why I always try and get the lowest possible price, so I don't regret it as much when something better is released.

Case in point, paying $2k under factory-to-dealer invoice on my brand new 2002 Honda Accord SE. Regret hasn't really set in, yet.

So, you guys are complaining about progress . . . or your inability to judge a hot deal?

Letsee, I just bought a TDK 40x (repackaged LiteOn) CD re-writer for $39.99 after MIR . . . how much is it going to bother me if it drops a few bucks in price or that the 48x is out? :)

No regrets on that brand new 2002 Kia for $5988 either (almost 20K miles and still no regrets and over 80K miles still left on the warranty). :D

I'd be thrilled about both purchases, damn you and your sub $6k Kia ... sure mine costs 3 times as much :D

Congrats on your new car, RossMAN. :)

And if I read the threads correctly, you "passed" on that CUSA "dark ad" TDK 40x burner for $39.99 after MIR (they appear to be out of stock now). I didn't really 'need' an upgrade as my 12X HP ("free after rebate") reWriter is working fine. However, since I am planning to upgrade my entire PC to a P4, I figured my old case would be a lot more "attractive" to a potential buyer with a 12X burner included rather than my oldest 2x one. :)

The only time it's really bothered me is when I bought my laptop from Dell back in November 99. I specifically asked if they knew when the P3 500s would be coming out (that's what speed my desktop was at the time) and ofcourse they said no. So I went ahead and ordered the P2 400MHz system (top of the line at the time) for a grand total of about $3500. The following Monday guess what happens? They release the mobile P3 500MHz. :|

And you didN'T take advantage of Dell's 30-day money back guarantee? Heck, I'd have just sent it back and re-ordered.
