Do you guys want a final Voodoo5 5500 & Voodoo4 4500 Review?

Please try to implement some sort of fps/s benchmark. Forgetting for a moment how much more useful they would be, we all know seismographs are more fun to look at than bar charts 😉.

yes, especially since anandtech posted in its news that a lot of review sites could have had faulty installations that resulted in some hefty performance losses. some people might have gotten the wrong idea about the cards, since i haven't seen anybody follow up on this.

"The shots appear to look more "washed out" than the NVIDIA shots because 3dfx has yet to include MIPMap LOD (level of detail) settings in their drivers that would help to improve the image quality in situations such as the one below. "

you just go to prove your bias more. Stick to nVidia reviews. I like them. Avoid mentioning 3dfx products. You just don't seem to do it right. Sorry."

3dfx must also be nVidia biased as they have admitted to the problem and released a fix for it. Beyond3D also has made mention of this(which has been crystal clear to those who have extensive technical skills in observing 3D images, for instance- they can see) and it is quite safe to say that they are very far removed from what can be considered nVidia biased. Rev also has an article up dealing with this. Of course with 3dfx being so heavily biased in favor of nVidia and releasing a fix for this obvious problem, who can you trust for 3dfx reviews?? 😛 😉

Read the review, it is up now and covers the issue in greater detail.

Dead Parrot Sketch - got ya covered now 🙂

RoboTECH - sorry you didn't like the article, but we're just giving you our observations. Check out what BenSkywalker had to say regarding this - I won't rehash it again.

DeathroweR - as I mentioned in the article, 3dfx is not releasing "real" V4 4500's at this point in time.

Hmm... you disabled one of the chips on the v5 to get a rough estimate of V4-4500 performance?

It seems that McGallik(sp?) either improperly disabled the second chip, or was just making crap up, cause he said about a week ago when he did this that there was very little performance loss. I see that your benchmarks prove otherwise.

And robotech,

Anandtech is the most unbiased websites out there.... I would suggest finding another site if you think this one is biased(and there are many biased websites out there).

Well the reviews up and its a good one. I think the V5 made a good showing of itself. You guys covered all the major issues, perhaps the only questions I have still are that you guys shy away from making an out and out decision on FSAA quality taking into account all the factors(I dont really blame you whatever you say, I'm sure you're mailbox would be flooded.). Also, aside from the benchmarks I'm curious to know how games 'felt' speedwise, in say simulators, driving games, etc. All in all though, a well done review.

man, 3dfx has had washed out colors since the voodoo graphics chipset... and people are just starting to realize this? arg...

I would like to see one as well. PLEASE include a V3 comparioson so w we can see how much Voodoo improved their product!

you know, i don't want one. but who the hell listens to me anyway. (note, i would not have posted if i did not already know there was one out).
