Personally I don't really have a use for it... so just wondering what people use them for...

Wireless Access Point? Yes, I use mine to connect my laptop to the internet.

Data is 144kbps. This is how much bandwidth is allocated for voice calls, too. Better than ISDN. It's not dialup, and certainly not 80's dialup.

LOL! Seriously. It hasn't been 9600 for years. My service is about 100k.

Yes, I use WAP to check sports scores and sometimes read game recaps. Also used for AIM.

I have AT&T wireless mMode... in my cell phone's WAP configuration it says speed=9600Bps... Maybe I am misunderstanding something here... someone wanna enlighten me?

i don't use it because i think the data rates are ridiculous. give me unlimited data (including hooked up to a PC) for $20/month and i'll use it.
