My wireless keyboard/mouse eats batteries like no other.
I might start turning them off at night.
But it's annoying to flip it over the turn it off.
First world problems.

What kind is it? Did it always do this?

I leave my Logitech on all the time. Lasts about 6 months to a year (one loses track after a while). My old Microsoft was about the same.

Considering the cost of batteries, it may be worth it to just get a new keyboard.

You can look up the FCC ID number number for the keyboard on this page:

http://transition.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid/

It is probably a Microsoft (most likely) or Logitech. I think they used another company for a time as well, but the name escapes me.

Not that it matters a whole lot, but just curious. Dell does not make their own keyboards.

I had an MS Arc KB, used rechargeable batteries but didn't have to charge them for months.

My old 2004 model uses up its AA batteries in 3 days max. My current 2012 one easily lasts for 2-3 weeks.

For keyboards though, mine (the same 2004 and 2012 ones), they tend to last for six months.

In either case, I never switch my wireless peripherals off.

Mine is Bluetooth, and I turn it off when not in use. It has a single AA battery and a slide switch. This practice has enabled it to be good for going on 7 months now.

I turn mine off everytime I'm done with it. I'm pretty darn cheap, and I can only imagine the pennies I'm saving in batteries by doing so.

Its probably more force of habit than anything, kind of like turning off the lights when I leave a room

That's nothing, I leave the lights off when entering a room, I know my house well enough to go by feel.
