Theres a new whole foods coming in in a few months about 5 minutes from me, and I would really like to work there. Problem is I am 16, and do not know if they accept people that young. Has anyone ever tried to apply there, or work there?

Yes, I started there at 16. All their job applications are online now I think. When yo ugo in to fill in an application, they just send you over to a computer kiosk linked to their web site. Try applying there first. Good luck.

You worked at whole foods?

The store isnt open yet (manhattan beach), aand it says on there website to contact the regional office for job opportunities in developing stores. I was hoping there would be an email, but all they had was a fax and a phone number for the so cal regional office. Do you guys think I should call, or is it not that big of a deal so that I can just go in and get an application to be a clerk/stock person or whatever. I was thinking maybe you only need to call for say managerial positions.

Yes, I worked there for 4 years.

Don't bother calling for just a cashier position. If they don't have an online app set up for the store, you could just head on in and do it that way. It couldn't hurt.

Did you work there recently? Did they give you any nice benefits? Stock Options maybe? I heard starbucks gives stock options to every employee

I left in 2004. I didn't have any benefits because I was with my parents at the time. However, their benefits package is very good (unless they've changed it since I've left). A lot of my friends I made in their 30's who worked there did quite well with the benefits they had.

so if you live with your parents you dont get any benefits? lame. Is that always the case with employers or just them? I am not really familiar on this stuff. Im sure their benefits have gotten even better as each year fortune magazine raises them as the best place to work...I think last year they were ranked #15

To earn benefits, you had to work full time and then a certain number of hours. Once you qualify, I think you can put it towards a health plan, 401K, stocks, or cashback at the end of the year. I obviously chose the latter. This is how it was when I worked there. I know they've changed it since then since it was being voted on when I left, but there you go.

If you're 16 and only working part-time, you won't qualify for benefits just like in most companies.
