My whole life I was taught to respect everyone. I sometimes wonder now if it was just a waste of time?

I respect everyone, except when I'm in P&N and TridenT threads. :p

In the sense of an afterlife, yeah, it's probably a huge waste of time. As part of a society? There are good values in some religious teachings. Just don't drink the Kool-Aid.

I hear what you are saying snoopy7547. I just wish to see more respect to elders.

I grew up with the concept..no one forced anything on us, unless it was 5 dollars to feed us all at McDonald's back in th day.

Who's version of Christianity?

the one where you ride ride through someplace, chopping, slicing, and killing everyone?

Or the "turn the other cheek" peace and love hippie version?

No. I've read parts of the Bible here and there. Mostly the gospels. I personally think there is a creator based on how everything works in life. I don't think the Bible is 100% accurate though. But that verse there that says something about the Earth starting out as formless is interesting. A lot of what is in the Bible are parables and metaphors. Like that 6 day creation thing, etc. I do like reading the red lettering of which is what Jesus is saying.

All in all. I don't let "the church" run my life like some others do.

I foolishly told someone that I'm not a Christian after she said, "Jesus blesses you." Her response was, "Then what's to keep you from killing people?"
She needs locking up then if thats the only thing stopping her from going on a massive kill spree!
