Yes, it sucks, but it's the natural order of things. Now answer one for me. Why didn't you try to be the bf?

 
yes, of course that happens in most cases, except when you are childhood best friends... in that case, usually she remains in the picture.
I don't have many girl-friends anymore probably because of that reason... but that's fine.
