k, so i've used a money order before, but i've never had to file a claim for it just in case i got ripped off. have you guys? like say for a 7-eleven money order or a post office money order...

i just bought something off ebay and i wanted to know if i have any recourse jes in case i got a fraudulent seller...

thanks for the help guys!

What is the seller feedback like?

If it is less than 100 feedbacks at 100% positive, I would not personally send a money order

You do have recourse, if the seller tries to screw you. It would involve waiting whatever time is required by the money order company, then filing a police report in teh seller's home town, and a federal postal fraud offense with the post office.

🙂

I only got screwed on a money order once; $37 to Tampa Bay. The guy still sells on eBay too. Apparantly every 99th seller or so he just doesn't send them stuff. Doesn't respond to e-mails either. Unfortunately I let it slide, but if I was on the ball I would have filed leins against his property. Really gets their attention when they try to re-register a car or something.

the seller actually has a like 3 negatives out of like 44, so he has like a 93.6 percent feedback...its a 300 dollar item tho and he wont accept anything else other than MO

im saving big bucks if he's legit tho so thats why im taking the "gamble", but im tryin to cover my a$$ jes in case he rips me off, hence this post

how would i go to the seller's hometown to file a police report? can i just call?

anyone know the time required by the money order company before i can file a case?

thanks for the help guys!

If you have these concerns about the auction, perhaps you shouldn't have placed a bid?

What is the item and how much was it?

As a buyer I almost always use Paypal funded with my credit card because of three reasons:
1) Most eBay sellers prefer Paypal since it's instant payment.
2) My first layer of protection is Paypal's buyer protection policy, hey it's better than nothing.
3) My second layer of protection is I used a credit card.

🙂

i don't think i'd go through w/ it even if it saved me $300...it's gonna be a long time and a hassle to get your $$ back if he decides to screw you over. I think you have to wait at least a month or something b4 u can file a claim, @ last w/ the post office. (Don't quote me on that though, lol.)
