Sometimes I give a dollar only in areas where I don't work and not near my home. If I did then it would tick off people like coworkers and neighbors who don't approve of it. Edit: I should rephrase that as my coworkers and neighbors would get ticked off and mad at me for doing it.
But if I'm just visiting someplace and won't return for years then yeah, although it could screw up things for those who work/live near by helping the beggar to get booze, etc.

No, I give to my church and they support a homeless outreach ministry that works with closely with the homeless community.

I remember a few years ago, being approached by someone in a parking lot telling me they were hungry, I invited them into a Jason's deli and they said that food made their stomach hurt. I then asked what they wanted and they said, "McDonalds", I said "ok, lets walk across the parking lot and I'll get you something", they immediately started to walk in the other direction. Since then I don't give them anything, mostly because I'm not carrying around cash anyways.

Sometimes. I like the honest hobos who ask for change to buy beer or weed. I'll give them a few bucks.

Pretty much this. Depends on the person and how honest I preceive them to be. I've got a fair amount of money, I can be generous with a few bucks here and there.

I've never had a person on the street ask me for money. I don't think we have panhandlers here, or if we do, they're in some part of town I never go to.

So far the only one I'd give money to.

Never.

It's become very popular around here to stand at a busy intersection and ask for money with a sign with some sad note about their life. I've seen quite a few people who could easily find work if they wanted to.

I don't, one guy outside of a 7-11 asked if I had 2 dollars. I said of course I do, but I wont give it to you.

We don't have any "beggars" here (they'd freeze to death in one night outside of a homeless shelter) so when I go down south where they do, I tend to feel bad and give them some. Sadly a lot of those people are probably using the money for alcohol. :/ But I like to think that they're not all like that and some have a legit need. If I saw them every day, I probably would not be giving to them all the time though.

If I was rich, I would perhaps try to do something so I can help all of them, best bet is probably donating to homeless shelters though.

I toss the ones outside the liquor store a beer or two and a couple smokes. That should get em through the night.

Nope, no money to, and even if I did I wouldn't. Charitable organizations are far better equipped to give the kinds of help that are most needed and give the best results. One of these days when I have enough for myself I'll probably contribute to a charity or two, but not to individuals directly.
