I love my ip4 best phone I ever owned,,,but I gotta say I do drop more calls than ever. I came off sprint. My friends and I have grown to call it " you got iphoned" Wonder why this is happening? What's funny with full bars which is normal in my market it happens and I can call back immediately after it happens so it's not like losing signal right? NE1 know whats going on? Is it T? Maybe I'm a on a low priority que or something. Is it the phone? It happens like twice a week and guys who have 3's say it's worse for them. I have bumper tho.

It's the combination of AT&T's notoriously crappy reception and POSSIBLY, remember people I said possibly, if you don't have a case on the phone your hand blocking reception which everyone knows is terrible on the iPhone4. There's a reason why AT&T gives out free Microcells to customers and supplements their service with Wifi cus they really do have crappy reception for the price you pay.

Next time someone tries to show me his ip4, I am sticking it up their ass. Reception will probably be better anyway, since the body will function as an antenna extender.

One thing that pissed me off is I drove all the way to APPLE store to see whats up only to be told I need an appointment. Apple needs to get thier shit together here. First of all you have to go to apple store instead of T? Then T did not tell me I needed an appointment so I wasted drive.

Again reception is not the problem. I have 4-5 bars at all times.

It can still be reception. Reception is never the same at all times. You can go from full reception to nothing without moving at all. AT&T is notorious for dropped calls.

Yep, the "bars" are a weighted historical average of your signal strength. Instantaneous drops and rebounds in signal strength can (and do) occur.

I don't make many calls, but I haven't dropped a call in the month I've had it.

Lol.

It's like my 0-1 Verizon bar is probably superior to full iPhone "bars". :ninja:

Historical average meaning seconds. If you can go from 5 bars to 0 in 3 seconds that would be great... but that usually doesn't happen unless you suddenly enter a tunnel.

And bars correspond to dBm. Apple already corrected the bars corresponding to dBm levels that didn't give enough dynamic range... so bars should be an accurate way to measure signal again.

I was using my cousin's new iphone to put on an app for him and my finger was on the little line and I totally forgot about it and I sat there for 5 minutes wondering why I had no reception.

so is this just an AT&T thing then? or more common with various US telcos?

i'm in the UK and have to say, apart from going through a tunnel or something, i've never had a dropped call or failed to get a signal when i want to make a call.

i'm in liverpool but my parents are out in the sticks in the mountains of north wales where they can barely get 1mbit broadband and i still get good reception. no hsdpa though :(
